Welcome to Freedom Boerboels LLC! We are Shane and Elizabeth McElheny, and we have been breeding Boerboels for a number of years now. Our passion for this breed started when we sought a breed that best fits our lifestyle. After numerous years of research, we encountered an excellent breeder who invited us to meet his dogs. That day changed our lives forever as we instantly fell in love with the Boerboel breed.
Our mission is to produce well-balanced and healthy Boerboels that are athletic, loyal, protective, and good with children. We are very selective about our breeding program, pairing only dogs that complement each other and have had extensive health testing and registered/appraised. We aim to create the perfect Boerboel for you to love for the rest of its life. We have carefully selected our foundation stock from some of the top-tier South African and US kennels. In addition to breeding and raising well-balanced and healthy Boerboels, we also focus on training and socialization. Our puppies are introduced to various stimuli, such as people, animals, and different environments, to ensure they are well-adjusted and confident. We believe that early socialization is vital to developing a well-rounded and well-behaved dog. We also participate in dog shows and sports. Our dogs have competed and earned titles in various events. We believe that participating in these events showcases not only the breed's abilities but also helps to improve the temperament and overall well-being of our dogs. As a CGC evaluator, we understand the importance of training and certifying our dogs in good manners. We work with our dogs to achieve the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification, which is a nationally recognized program that rewards dogs who have good manners at home and in the community.

Liz and Shane are amazing people to work with. When we purchased our first female pup, they asked us a lot of questions as to what we were looking for in our dog, and hand picked the one that best fit our lifestyle. We had such a great experience with our first pup, we reached out and purchased a male pup to complete the family. We were fortunate enough to get a puppy from Freedom Boerboels. Our Dog Freedom Nala just turned 1 and she is the most loving, smart, adventurous, and protective dog. You can tell Freedom Boerboels truly cares about their dogs and that they are breeding high quality dogs. Before getting our dog from them they took the time to explain and provide us with all we needed, and they made the pickup process very smooth.
